Software was considered for a long period of time to be an expense. It was an expense that was necessary, but people don’t usually think about how employees work with it or about the user experience and how the quality of the software affects the quality of work are usually secondary concerns. Those conceptions have their origin in the mainframe days.

Once cloud computing and subscription became a common thing, the idea of “profit” and “return on investment” also started having a lot more importance. The profit decreased on a per-transaction basis, but sellers knew they had to accept this for the small transactions so the clients will come back to them.

ROI was a phenomenon that involved self-serving so the employees will have less work and the employer will save money. In our days, ROI has another meaning, because a software investment will bring money back to the company by using software-driven business processes to capture opportunities that appear in the business world.

Considering this, the return is more about shortening the time in which vendors respond to opportunities that are only available for a short period. For this, you need a speedy delivery of software that is working perfectly.

Recently there were launched a lot of intellectual tools. In our days is hard to have to operate a modern application development shop if you don’t have a platform. Most of the companies have a platform or platform-like environment and come with a new approach when it comes to development, named “DevOps”.

A good DevOps rollout in your company needs to have the help of the executive because people have to collaborate and there is a need for transparency and sharing.

Different from the values of older programming paradigms, a DevOps strategy aim toward time to value. A DevOps strategy can reduce costs and at the same time is empowering workers to make small changes when creating and delivering the work results.

DevOps and a software development platform that generates running code are important for digital disruption. Analyzing your client’s data can give you useful information, but most of this information needs to be integrated into the software that supports the business processes. So, in conclusion, software flexibility brings business agility, which brings profits to the company.

Software flexibility is given by the platform but DevOps also have an important role as the companion of the platform.

If you think your company is left behind because you struggle with building and delivering software rapidly, is not the case to think that. Just 10% of the HBR survey respondents affirmed that their companies are really successful at fast development and deployment. On the other side, 61% said they were neutral or only notice a small improvement at rapid deployment and implementation. But there is also a problem of perception because people think of different time intervals when it comes to fast-changing.

DevOps is mostly about encouraging people, involving users and supporting sharing and transparency.
